Assignment 2 | Proposal

For this project, I want to create a story that readers have to put together themselves by going through the information available to them. The narrative will be broken down into pieces and represented through the most common platforms that people document their lives through - social media. The reader can navigate a bunch of different platforms linked together - much like our social media presence is today - provide clues as to what happened in the protagonist’s life. Every reader will navigate this system differently, so I want to keep it ambiguous enough that the story each reader absorbs is dependent on the way and order in which they make their way through different platforms.

The story itself is about a young girl who dies. The story starts with her obituary or death announcement - either on social media or in a newspaper - and that leads the reader through the web of the internet to figure out how she died. I’d like to keep it open enough that there are multiple ways she could have died - a freak accident, a violent altercation, a conspiracy, a health issue, or a combination of multiple factors. How the reader believes she died will depend on how and what clues they find first or find at all, and how their minds work.
