Assignment 1 | Ideation & Conceptualisation

For assignment 1, I am considering adapting a novel into an interactive, linear time story. The Kingdom of Back, written by Marie Lu, follow a pair of siblings who are both extraordinarily talented at music. In the real world, only the boy is allowed to flourish while the girl constantly fears the day she will have to give up doing what she loves and have her identity hidden behind marriage, household, children, and everything else society expects from women. However, the pair find a world hidden parallel to their own where the sister finds she has a chance to thrive.

I want to take advantage of this parallel narrative and create a set of two coexisting stories, running parallel to one another, one in each of the siblings’ POV. The narrative will be represented visually and users have the choice to choose between either of the siblings’ storylines; however, they can only choose to see one at a time.
